I have placed these on a separate page in order to note that missing/inaccurate data and poor linkage between regions of the country mean we cannot take too seriously the output of a mathematical ranking system (and even under the best circumstances mathematical rankings can be poor). These are something of an artifact, as probably no one alive now can verify the actual qualities of the teams from first-hand observation. Hopefully some students of the game will think them interesting...
Notes: The scoring system changed in 1883, leading to a drastically wider rating distribution. There were no known games from 1871.
