Welcome to one of the most authoritative sources for sports rankings and predictions there is. The Entropy ratings system was started in the fall of 1993, and prediction accuracy has been documented in several forums for decades now.
This site might not look like much, but that's intentional. I prefer the Internet of Old (circa 1993, when this all began). And things are going to stay that way here.
We are 100% authentic and independent. No ads, no bots, no AI, no data collection or sharing, no affiliates, no sponsors, no need for a specific browser or phone... EVER. Best viewed on a desktop or laptop computer.
We have a service selling our game data files to the general public. These are a great resource for handicappers, and may be of simple general interest for any sports fan, or journalist. CLICK HERE for info. I will limit this to 50 customers per year. If interested, send me an email (link at bottom).
I got my start with college football, and studying college sports is the foundation here. Evaluating statistics, really college basketball is the only sport in which one can get a true measure of skill and success for all teams. With college and pro football, everything suffers from small number statistics, essentially meaning a few weird results can greatly skew over-all stats. (This is especially true in the NFL, with only about 270 games for the league each year.) The NBA has changed its culture considerably in recent years - "small ball" has given it much more variance, and star players are constantly resting for unknown reasons. I felt done with the NBA for a few seasons, but I think I've gotten it back on track and I have high expectations again.
All that said, my highest confidence going into 2026/27 might be for the NFL.
Despite all of the above, I believe that as of the Fall of 2025, I have finally worked out all the unique issues pertaining to each league, and now have the highest confidence I've had since the early days (when I had no idea just how difficult predictions really are). * UPDATE: I was wrong about that in 2025, but going into the fall of 2026, everything here should be at peak perfection. :)
If you have a need for custom programming related to sports, or any type of project involving data analysis, I am all ears.
Otherwise, pick your favorite sport from the menu above, and check out our content. Thanks! (And be sure not to miss the GAME DATA FILES blurb...)
On the college football page I have included some essays and links that folks interested in sports & prediction might find interesting. Thanks!
